SERVING SONOGRAPHY INTERNATIONALLY
The International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research (IFSER) has been providing grants, scholarships and products for more than 20 years for the purpose of providing educational opportunities for deserving students entering the field of sonography and for sonographers seeking to further their education.
President’s Address:
Welcome to the International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research (ISFER). We would like to take this opportunity to share our vision of improving world health through education…a world in which quality health care is available to all.
IFSER is committed to developing and providing teaching and educational materials to all that provide Ultrasound imaging to their patients: Sonographers, educators, physicians or nurses involved in the delivery of health care, especially in underserved areas throughout the world.
For over two decades we have been a driving force in the area of sonography education in North America. With the recent technological advances and affordability of diagnostic ultrasound its value has rapidly become the most sought after imaging technique in areas previously without access to any imaging technology. High quality training and education are not as available and there is a serious need for educational approaches tailored for the world-wide adoption of ultrasound.
There are many approaches to improving health for all and IFSER has chosen to improve world health through the transfer of knowledge and research. We are providing training, protocols, standards, and the guidelines necessary to meeting that need across the globe. Our current project is in Vietnam, where our international team is training physicians in the performance and interpretation of obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound.
Throughout most of the world Ultrasound imaging is the first line imaging modality. Recent advances in technology have allowed Ultrasound imaging to become smaller and more affordable. This has directly impacted the growth of Ultrasound imaging in areas that previously did not have access to imaging technology.

IFSER’s effectiveness depends largely on proceeds from educational seminars, the sale of educational products and donations from those who share our vision. If you have the expertise, insight and commitment to this goal we extend the opportunity to collaborate with us here and globally. THE SONOGRAPHY CLINICAL ASSESSMENT NOTEBOOK (THE SCAN)
This comprehensive formative evaluation tool can be used in the classroom as well as in the workplace to aid in the evaluation of clinical competencies of students, sonographers and cardiovascular technologists. It will soon also be available in an electronic version.
